Believers in Trebukhiv defend their temple from OCU invaders

Near the Intercession church of Trebukhiv, the community is holding a prayer standing and intends to defend itself from the assault.

On October 9, 2022, the Intercession community of Trebukhiv village, Brovary district, Kyiv region, held a prayer standing near its church with a firm determination to protect its shrine from OCU raiders, the parishioners told the UOJ.

More than 300 parishioners of the Intercession community gathered at the doors of their church. About 50 supporters of the OCU came. They organized themselves at the monument to the Heavenly Hundred opposite the church.

Human rights activist and leader of the All-Ukrainian organization “Women's Power of Ukraine" Victoria Kokhanovska said there had already been attempts to seize the temple.

“As usual, which is now commonplace, people in military uniform, territorial defense units, everything is ‘as it should be’,” Kokhanovska says in the video. “Provocations, scandals and the like in situations of the war.”

The footage shows that the police are on duty near the temple.

Recall that on July 31, 2022, the religious community of the UOC church in honor of the Intercession of the Virgin in the village of Trebukhiv, Brovary district, unanimously confirmed its allegiance to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and its Primate, His Beatitude Onuphry at its meeting. The meeting was attended by 240 parishioners of the temple.

On August 6, the authorities organized an alternative meeting at the stadium, to which public sector workers were invited. At a meeting of the City Council, Brovary mayor Ihor Sapozhko gave the task to collect the required number of people who would vote for the transition.

On August 11, 2022, Epifaniy Dumenko received mayor of Brovary Ihor Sapozhko, member of the Executive Committee of the City Council of Brovary Oleksiy Doroshenko, headman of the village Andriy Tsakhlo, as well as other Brovary officials, who ostensibly represented the "transferred religious community" and whom the parishioners of the Intercession community of the UOC had never seen coming to the temple.
