Monks killed in Sviatogorsk Lavra shelling
As a result of the shelling of the Sviatogorsk Lavra, there were dead and wounded monks, and two buildings of the monastery were damaged.
On 30 May 2022, the Sviatogorsk Lavra suffered from shelling, there are dead and wounded, reports Metropolitan Hilarion of Donetsk and Mariupol on the Facebook page of the Donetsk Eparchy.
"With deep sorrow, I report that the 3rd and 4th monastic buildings of the Sviatogorsk Holy Dormition Lavra were hit during the fighting. Archimandrite Galaktion, the dean of the Lavra, monk Aristokliy and nun Barbara were killed in the shelling.
Hieromonks Joasaph and Amfilohiy and Hierodeacon Alipiy were injured. The number of dead and injured laymen is unknown at present. I ask your holy prayers for the repose of the dead and the speedy recovery of the injured," the archbishop wrote.
As reported, the Sviatogorsk Lavra got under shelling on March 13 and May 4, 2022. On May 8, the Lavra's skete in the village Dolina was completely destroyed; on May 10, the skete in Adamivka was damaged; on May 20, the skete church in Bogorodichnoye was completely destroyed.
