Patriarchate of Alexandria summons clergy of ROC to a Synodal court

Priests Georgy Maksimov and Andrei Novikov are due to appear before the court of the Alexandrian Patriarchate on February 24.

On February 18, 2022, the Synodal Court of First Instance of the Patriarchate of Alexandria sent a summons to the church court to two clerics of the Moscow Patriarchate, reports Romfea.

The Alexandrian Patriarchate summoned priest Georgy Maksimov and priest Andrei Novikov to court on charges of non-canonical activities in Africa.

The clergy must personally appear on February 24, 2022, at 10 a.m. at the Synodal Court of First Instance of the Church of Alexandria for trial. If they fail to appear, they will be judged in absentia.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria threatened to punish two clerics of the Russian Orthodox Church.
