On September 2, 2019, during the meeting with Metropolitan Agafangel of Odessa and Izmail on the Greek Island of Kerkyra, the hierarch of the Orthodox Church of Greece, Metropolitan Nektarios (Dovas) of Kerkyra, expressed his support for the UOC, the press service of Odessa Eparchy reports.

In his welcoming address to Metropolitan Agafangel, Metropolitan Nektarios noted, “We are pleased to welcome you, Your Eminence, on your birthday on an island with many saints, among whom St. Spyridon is particularly revered. We pray that the Lord will help your Church overcome difficulties associated with church schism and disorder.

We recognize only one canonical Church, headed by Metropolitan of Kiev and all Ukraine Onuphry, who would often come to Kerkyra and serve here as an ordinary priest."

In response, Metropolitan Agafangel thanked Metropolitan Nektarios for the opportunity to pray with St. Spyridon and for supporting canonical Orthodoxy in Ukraine.

Recall, on September 2, 2019, Metropolitan Agafangel of Odessa and Izmail visited the Cathedral of St. Spyridon of Trimythous on the Corfu Island and performed a prayer service at the relics of St. Spyridon of Trimythous the miracle worker.
